Emergency leak detection services
Pipe leak repairs can be simple like repairing the tiny line to the ice maker or repairing a sewer drain in your home. Most pipe leaks can be a serious problem and result in big damages. Even small leaks, if left undetected, can damage the home’s structure and cause unwanted hazards. At WeDry USA, we use advanced and innovative technology to identify the sources of leaks and affected areas that the naked eye cannot see.
Common types of leaks found in the home are worn toilet flappers, dripping faucets, and other leaking valves. Sometimes however, major causes of water damage can occur when a household appliance such as a dishwasher or washing machine fails. WeDry USA can restore your surroundings by drying out areas that include carpeting, drywall, sub-floors, concrete and wood.
Leak Detection Steps
-
Visual Inspection:
Check for visible signs of leaks like water stains, mold, and damp areas on ceilings, walls, and floors.
-
Water Meter Check:
Turn off all water use, record the water meter reading, wait an hour, then check again. Any change indicates a leak.
-
Fixture and Appliance Review:
Examine faucets, toilets, and appliance connections for drips or signs of moisture.
-
Toilet Dye Test:
Add food coloring to the toilet tank; if color appears in the bowl without flushing, there's a leak.
-
Use Detection Equipment:
For hidden leaks, consider using acoustic detectors or thermal imaging cameras to find moisture or temperature anomalies.
-
Call a Professional:
If you can't find or fix the leak, hire a professional plumber with the tools and expertise to locate and repair it efficiently.

Frequently Asked Leak
Detection Questions
How to detect a water leak
The best way to check for a water leak in your home is make sure all water is turned off- appliances, faucets, etc. Look at the numbers on the water meter and write them down. Continue to not use any water for one hour, then come back and see if the numbers have changed. If they have, you can assume there is a leak somewhere.
How does leak detection work?
Leaks create unique sounds. Small leaks produce a higher-frequency sound while large leaks having a lower-frequency sound. Acoustic leak detection devices locate leak sounds from those of normal flow through your pipes.
How to detect a water leak underground
There are a few ways to check for a leak underground. Using the same way we recommended in "how to detect a water leak" is a great start. If you have puddle or water seepage in your yard or around your home, it is certainly worth further investigation.
What tests are performed to detect a leak?
The best and most accurate leak detection option is a miniaturized camera mounted on long fiber optic cables. The camera relays images back to a monitor where we can see inside of the pipe.
The other tool often used preliminarily is the acoustic leak detection tool, which uses the sound of the leaks to better identify where they are.
